Our StoryHealth Quest founder Shirley Ferina, RN, began her career in nursing in 1982. She spent several years working in hospitals, mostly as an ICU and CCU nurse. She began working part-time in the home health industry in 1987. It was at this time that she discovered that home health was where her heart was. She found taking care of patients on an individual basis and helping them progress towards their goals was most rewarding.
Health Quest was founded in 2003 in Rowlett, TX. Since that time Health Quest has grown to service a large portion of the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex. Shirley's original titles included nurse, administrator, office manager, marketer, secretary, maintenance manager, cleaning crew and many more. Health Quest now proudly employs over twenty-five people.
Shirley was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2006. Over the next three years she battled through three surgeries and multiple rounds of chemotherapy, all while overseeing a growing business. Shirley's cancer has been in remission since late 2009. During her battle with cancer Shirley also lost her husband John to complications with diabetes and cardiac failure. Her perseverance through both of these trying times is a testament to her dedication and commitment to quality patient care. Shirley has instilled a philosophy in her staff that is shared in every residence that Health Quest employees enter.
"My philosophy is to provide clients with quality care in the privacy and comfort of their home. Our goal is to provide a treatment plan to help control disease and help patients reach their optimal level of health. We provide teaching to clients and family members to achieve the best possible quality of life. Quality time equals quality care that can only come from the heart and professional care of our staff. Patients are to be treated with the utmost dignity while receiving services under our care." - Shirley Ferina
